Lymphedema Management: Upper and Lower Extremities
Lymphedema is a chronic swelling of an extremity or part of the body caused by a deficiency in the flow of lymph fluid from the area due to:
- Surgical removal of lymph nodes (i.e. mastectomy or prostate surgery)
- Congenital (born with) defect of having too few or impaired lymphatics or lymph nodes
- Destruction of extensive lymphatic pathways due to trauma, surgery, or radiation
Our staff consists of therapists certified in lymphedema treatment. Treatment can involve specialized gentle massage to reroute and remove the fluid, exercise programs, myofascial technique, kinesiotaping, compression bandages or sleeve, wound and skin care, lifestyle adaptations, special sessions in precautions and self-management, plus attention to any other related physical needs.
Neurological Rehabilitation
Neurological Rehabilitation is necessary when areas of the nervous system are damaged. This can be due to neurological disorders, injuries, infections, degeneration, structural defects, and other health issues. Neurological rehabilitation equipment is used to assist the patient in returning to a high level of function and independence, by improving their overall quality of life.
Neurological Rehabilitation Equipment Options:
- Bioness H200: Nerve stimulation designed to improve hand motion and function after a stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, or other such conditions
- SaeboFlex: Custom fit hand device designed to increase hand function
Hand Therapy
Hand Therapy involves treatment for acute, chronic, and cumulative orthopedic and neurological conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Treatment options include:
- Custom splinting
- Evaluation of current condition and ongoing reassessment
- Manual therapy, joint mobilization, range of motion (ROM), strengthening
- Electrical modalities (E-stim, TENS, iontophoresis)
- Fluidotherapy

Home Assessments
Home assessments involve a member of our team meeting with the patient and their family to discuss how they live their daily lives. It involves review of the patient’s needs as they go about their day-to-day activities and also involves input from other people who partake as the patient’s caregiver.
