Research Trials
During the initial consult, the Oncologist and our Research Nurse will review each patient’s diagnosis and information to see if he or she qualifies for an available study. Participation in a study can be discussed at that consult or the patient may contact the Cancer Center at 701-364-8910 and the research nurse will set up an appointment to further discuss options.
Clinical Trials available at Innovis Health
Breast
ECOG E5103: For women with lymph node positive and high-risk lymph node negative breast cancer. This study is to determine if adding a medication, Bevacizumab, to the current standard chemotherapy of cancer-reducing medications, namely doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide and paclitaxel, reduces the risk of recurrence compared to standard chemotherapy alone.
IBSCG 25-02: For women who are pre-menopausal and whose tumors express hormone receptors. This study will compare the effects of Examestane(Aromasin) given for 5 years, with Tamoxifen given for 5 years. Both arms will receive monthly injections to suppress ovarian function for 5 years.
NSABP B-46-I: This phase III clinical trial is for women with node-positive or high-risk node-negative, Her2-negative breast cancer. The aim of this trial is to determine whether the addition of Bevacizumab to the Doxetaxel and Cyclophosphamide regimen improves invasive disease-free survival relative to Doxetaxel and Cyclophosphamide alone.
SWOG SO307: This study is to determine if adding biphosphonate to hormonal or chemotherapy in women with resected non-metastatic breast cancer will prevent cancer from spreading to bones or other parts of the body.
Colon
ECOG 5202: This phase III study will compare 5-FU, Leucovorin and Oxaliplatin versus 5-FU, Leucovorin, Oxaliplatin and Bevacizumab in patients with stage II colon cancer at high risk for reoccurrence to determine prospectively the prognostic value of molecular markers.
Lung
CALGB 30607: This randomized phase III trial is studying sunitinib to see how well it works when given as maintenance therapy compared with a placebo in treating patients with Stage III or IV non small cell lung cancer previously treated with combination chemotherapy.
Multiple Myeloma
Celgene CC-5013-MM-020/IFM 07-01: This phase III trial is for patients with previously untreated multiple myeloma who are either 65 years of age or older or not candidates for stem cell transplantation. The primary objective is to compare the efficacy of lenalidomide plus low-dose dexamethasone given until progressive disease to that of the combination of melphalon, prednisone and thalidomide given for 12 six-week cycles.
Prostate
SWOG SO421: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of the combination of docetaxel and prednisone plus atrasentan, an investigational drug, against the combination of docetaxel and prednisone plus placebo to treat prostate cancer which is resistant to advanced hormones.
Rectal
NSABP R-04: This Phase III trial compares preoperative radiation therapy and Capecitabine with or without Oxaliplatin with preoperative radiation therapy and continuous intravenous infusion of 5-FU with or without Oxaliplatin in the treatment of patients with operable carcinoma of the rectum.
Renal
ECOG 2805: The purpose of this study is to determine if either sunitinib or sorafenib can prevent the recurrence of kidney cancer after surgical removal.
