Accreditation
The Innovis Health Cancer Center has received the 2008 Commission on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).
The CoC Outstanding Achievement Award (OAA) was designed to recognize cancer programs that strive for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients.
A facility receives the OAA following the on-site evaluation by a physician surveyor during which the facility demonstrates a Commendation level of compliance with seven standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach, and quality improvement).
In addition a facility receives a compliance rating for the remaining 29 standards. 93 programs received the OAA as a result of surveys performed in 2008. This number represents approximately 19% of the programs surveyed during this period. The CoC is pleased to acknowledge Innovis’ commitment to providing high-quality cancer care as evidenced by their participation in the Commission on Cancer Approvals program.
In addition to the achievement award, Innovis Health Cancer Center was also awarded a three-year approval with commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons.
The Cancer Center received a three-year approval with commendation following an on-site evaluation by a physician representative from the CoC during which the Cancer Center demonstrated a commendation level of compliance with one or more standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program. This includes the Innovis Health cancer committee leaders, data management, clinical services, cancer research, community outreach, and quality improvement throughout the cancer program. In addition, the Cancer Center received a compliance rating for all other standards.
The Approvals Program, a component of the CoC, sets quality-of-care standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to ensure they conform to those standards. Approval by the CoC is given only to those organizations that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. To maintain approval, Innovis Health and its CoC approved cancer program must undergo an on-site review every three years.
